Early childhood is a crucial period in a child’s life. It is the formative years in which cognitive, emotional, social and motor skills are developed. Any setback or difficulty at this stage might affect the child’s future ability to function effectively in the education system and in adult life.
Our developmental units provide an early professional response, that is tailored to each child, allowing for the diagnosis and treatment of developmental problems already in their early stages. With the aid of a multi-profession team – healthcare specialists, psychologists and social workers – the units act as an integrative response of diagnosis, treatment and support for children and their parents.
Early intervention allows the child to narrow developmental gaps and strengthen self-efficacy, enhances parental efficacy and reduces future risk factors.
Northern Goals operates two developmental units, in Marom HaGalil and Hatzor HaGlilit.
The developmental units provide diagnostic services and treatment for children exhibiting developmental delays, from early childhood up to the age of 18. The units are included in the service package of the National Health Law, and are covered by all the health maintenance organizations (kupot holim) in Israel.

Each unit includes a multi-disciplinary team:

  • Speech therapist
  • Occupational therapist
  • Physiotherapists
  • Developmental pediatrician
  • Developmental psychologist/social worker
The units operate as an integral component of the community-based services and view the child with a holistic approach, referring to complementary treatment when necessary (like special education kindergartens or playgroups), in collaboration with the local municipality.
