Young women between the ages of 17-25 in Arab society contend with a wide range of challenges – beginning with few opportunities for higher education and vocational training, to difficulties in obtaining quality employment, and cultural and social barriers that limit their ability to realize their full potential. Current figures indicate significant disparities in education, employment and self-efficacy among young Arab women in the geographic and social periphery.

The Nur centers were founded in response to a demand for an integrative and multi-disciplinary solution to these challenges. They provide a safe environment for women where they can receive one-on-one guidance and participate in group activities, obtain educational and career guidance, develop life and leadership skills and deepen their sense of belonging and self-efficacy. These centers help the young women shape an independent, fulfilling and meaningful future for themselves. They offer one-on-one counseling, educational and career guidance, workshops for the advancement of women, development of relevant skills, enrichment and education courses, tours of academic institutions and employment centers, and participation in employment fairs and community initiatives.
